My Event Message
Throughout the 2008 basketball season, Tammy Sutton-Brown of the WNBA's Indiana Fever lit up the court for her team, and she also did it as an Athlete for Africa.
This means that, for every rebound of her 2008 season, Tammy made a $10 contribution to Athletes for Africa to support children affected by war in Uganda, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On top of her personal donations, Tammy also asked friends, family and fans to join in her campaign – anyone could play a part by making an online donation.
After taking the Fever to the finals and bringing in a total of 224 rebounds, Tammy’s skills, compassion and supporters raised almost $3,000 for the education and rehabilitation of Africa’s war-affected youth.
Now it’s your turn to be like Tammy and ‘Be an Athlete for Africa’. It’s easy: Just take any athletic event and use Athletes for Africa’s online tools and in-person support to raise funds and awareness for Africa’s war-affected youth. Click on “Fundraising home” above to find out more and to get started today!
